Be A Blessing

“Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered..”

Proverbs 11:25
watering can with water sprinkling out

How do you enter a situation, or conversation? Do you seek to be a blessing the another? or are do you simply seek your own self-gain? … I need to continually ask myself this same these same questions.

Once again, this verse speaks of generosity and the benefits that come from this virtue. God promises to to bless our generosity, and often it is in the area of reciprocation. Though not always returning the exact currency that was generously given. This is why Solomon uses the term watering and being watered, the concept is in the first part of the verse about being enriched.

Giving and receiving was spoken of both by Jesus Himself, as well as Paul:

35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Acts 20:35

Paul, here, was seeking to bring a blessing by his help to the weak, and no doubt was enriched by his effort.

“If I want to get water I must give water. Though that seems a strange way of self-serving, I pray you try it.”

Charles Spurgeon
